Components of automobile engine

Engines in cars are very crucial to the vehicles. They allow the car to get from place to place. A car without an engine does not get anywhere. An engine is a collection of various components working together to achieve a common goal – spinning the wheels of a car. Key components around which the engine operates are piston, cylinder, and the crankshaft

The piston is a small metal part but an important one in the engine. It slides up and down in the engine. It connects to the crankshaft via a component known as a rod. The piston moving up and down forces the crankshaft. This motion causes the engine to rotate, thus driving the car and allowing it to roll forward.

Next, we have the cylinder. A cylinder: A long metal tube the piston travels in and out of. That’s where something extremely significant takes place. The cylinder is where the fuel and air mixture ignites. A spark plug assists by generating a tiny spark which ignites the mixture. When the fuel and air mixture is ignited, it forces the piston down, causing it to move. Hundreds of engines have varying numbers of cylinders. Cars, for instance, might have four cylinders or be six or eight-cylinder vehicles. A car plans to be more austere in the number of cylinders

Next up, let's get into the crankshaft. Crankshaft: A long metal rod to which the piston is attached. The crankshaft rotates when the piston goes up and down. This motion of turning is very important as it facilitates the car wheels to turn and helps the car move ahead on the road. The crankshaft's job is to convert the upward and downward motion of the piston into circular motion and without a crankshaft the energy from the piston would not move the car.
